Neck Pain - Gateway to many Ailments
The neck is one of the most used parts of the body. There are several layers muscles attached from the neck to the head, the shoulders, the upper back and upper chest. These various muscle groups enable the head, neck, and shoulders to perform countless movements on countless planes.
In an ideal state, everything works fluidly on command, meaning one can move the head, neck and shoulders instantly and fluidly without a thought. However as we go thru life, these muscle do go thru stresses and trauma that causes them to tighten...mostly the ones that are used more and those that are traumatized...I'm sure you can think of some situations.
Stress and trauma can affect the muscles in the form of temporary discomfort or tightness...but over time that tightness can turn to pain, depending on your activities or stresses. So you seek a remedy for the pain.
Sure one can manage the pain, or even take it away, BUT, if the underlying cause is not addressed, it will return, and with more intensity...
This is not all... Because the neck is the gateway up to the head, and down to the back and chest, and to the shoulders and arms, the tightness in the neck can put pressure on the nerves serving these areas, causing secondary pain. And even more importantly tight muscles in the back upper neck and back of the head, can refer pain to the front of the head. Most of us dont know that this is actually the cause of tension headaches. Imagine a headache on front comes from the back of the head.
There are a whole bunch of other trauma conditions in the upper back, shoulders, and even the arms that are caused by tightness and pain in the neck. We can discuss this in much more detail later, but for now lets just say we should not judt take the pain lying down, but rather focus on understanding the underlying causes of the dysfunction in the neck and shoulder muscles and explore therapies that can restore the neck muscle condition.
I hope I have stirred some thought in you to consider where is that headache coming from, or why can I turn my head to the Left more than I can turn to the Right.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. There will be more articles on the subject of muscle restoration in different parts of the body coming soon. Feel free to contact me to suggest topic you would like me to cover.
